Brief (!) History
‘Bridport Record Centre’ opened in 1974 at 96 South Street, in the days of records, cassettes and 8 track cartridges. Things went well and in 1979 the business moved to its current location – 33a South Street.
Within a year Piers had married Steph and the pair have been running the shop ever since, assisted by a fine assortment of staff (both friends and family!).
In 2007, with independent record shops closing on a daily basis, Piers and Steph decided that they would have to broaden the range of products stocked, or the BRC would join the list of closures. They identified 2 areas; still linked to music - that were poorly served in the town, namely audio equipment (in particular radios) and musical instruments.
Out went Bridport Record Centre, and in came Bridport Music...
